Uncle Jim opend his birth day gifts {its his 66th}. later we saw a herd of elk crossing the meadow out side the house.

Alpine part 1

well today was an other great day in alpine. Jo, Jim, Riley and I, went out on “woody” {the dune-bugy} and took a tour of the area while pops and grandma did laundry. I chilled out all afternoon, and really didn’t do much. Kristen, Bryan, and James {Riley’s parents and step brother} came just in time for dinner {ham (YUM)}

Standing on a corner in Alpine, AZ

this morning pops drove up to the canyon for sunrise, while me and grandma took our time waking up. our first stop was Flagstaff, but on the way there we desided to go to the snow bowl {a mountain /ski resort in AZ... i know i laughed to} and we found just enoph snow to say iv seen snow. once we got to Flagstaff, we looked up Dr. Fredrick {Popses mentor at NAU} we had a realy good lunch at a local pizza joint. afterwards we took a drive around the NAU campus. Pops and grandma were both very impressed at how much the campus has grown. From there we headed to Winslow, AZ and took a picture at the Eagles monument there. Next on the list, Alpine. Jo and Jim have a cabin up there and let me tell you it is awesome. we had supper with Dave and Karen Santa Maria {they have a cabin nearby}

Homeward Bound {Day 14}

Well we are finally headed East again, and even though we still have a lot of other stuff to do on this trip, i feel like we are headed home. Today was the day of big holes in the ground. first we went to Hoover Dam, which is an amazing feat of engineering. we didnt take any of the official tours, but we walked on the dam and got to see the amazing power of the Dam. next we went to the Grand Canyon, and let me just say i was really awe struck by the view. we got there at sun set and the way the sun hit the canyon... its hard to put into words so i gess i shuld put up some pics.

What Happens in Vegas...

Yuma...yay. {Day 12}

so today was grandmas day, we went to her old high school {Yuma High School}. the people at the front desk wold not let us walk around the school but they did let us go out into the court yard and see how things have changed there. from there we went to the Yuma Territorial Prison Museum, which was really cool. they had a few cells that you could walk into. hears a little trivia for you, the High School use to use the prison as there building and thats how they got there mascot, "The Criminals".

Marana on my mind {Day 11}

today me pops and aunt jo went into Marana and saw all the different places where they grew up. what made it extra cool was the fact that my great granddad, Don Frew, helped found Marana. For lunch, Debi and Loni Goff my sorta relatives, came to visit. Me and Riley drove to Eegees and got the party pack cooler of Eegee {50 servings of 6oz, you do the math} later me, Rily, and Aunt Joe went to “A” mountain, which has a great view of Tucson. For dinner we meet up with R.J. and his wife. Pops had a good time reminiscing on his younger years {AKA: long time ago}.

Welcome to the hotel sorta near California

As promised, i present to you, 5 days worth of posts in one...

Out in a west Texas town of El Paso...
{day #7}

Today was a, more drive, less fun, sorta day. As usual we got up at our own leisure, and had a great {free} continental breakfast. Earlier pops had taken a run up this ridiculously steep hill, so before we headed out we checked the mileage of his route. From there began the great expanse of nothingness. Truly there where places where all you could see was dirt and shrubs {it was so cool!}. We saw a few wind farms which was different. And I saw my first coyote {it was road kill, but still a coyote}. We had decided earlier to go ahead past El Paso, so we are staying in Las Cruces, NM.

The Rexes = Awesome!

{Day #8}

So for the first time on this trip we did not stay at the Hotel for breakfast. Instead we went to Denny's {3 eggs, 2 bacon, 2 sausage, and 4 pieces of bread}. We drove past a little hole in the wall town called Bisbee, and when i say hole in the wall i mean it. the town was built on the sides of a group of hills, and talk about some winding roads, holy crap! the next stop was Tombstone. I had gone there a last time i was in Arizona, but i really didn't remember it. Tombstone is one of thous places where people still dress up like cowboys and walk around taking pic's with tourists. from there we went to Jo and Jims house, which is right on the edge of Saguaro National Park, which means that i got some awesome pics to put up when i can. we hade a great dinner with them and grandma Frew, Riley my cousin is staying with them right now so he ate with us too.

Why does Ga. not have an Eegies?

{Day #9}

Today is Grandma and Pop's 38th wedding anniversary, so they went and had lunch at El Molinita's Mexican Restaurant while Me and the rest off the gang went to Eegies {its a sub place but they are really well known for there slushy, called Eegies}. For dinner Uncle Jim grilled chicken, and it was soooooooooo good!

M-E-X, I-C-O, M-O-U-S-E

{sung to the tune of the mickey mouse club song}

{Day #10}

Mexico, The great wall of America, and realy cheap stuff, where all key points on todays agenda. We drove to Nogales, USA, then crossed over {with out having to so much as pull out our driving licenses} in to Nogales, Mexico. And it surprised me how similar the two border towns where, the only diferance was the amount of beggars. we only walked a few blocks, because A: Mexico is dirty, and B: we where on a mission. I was looking for a very specific sort of sweat shirt, and i found it! it was fun talking the guy down from his original price. i also bought a Mexican wedding shirt .

Next was the Titan II Missile Museum, which was "very interesting" as grandma put it. and that night Butch & Sue Maxam, friends of grandma and pops, came by and visited. Butch helped to clarify a story that pops had told before.
